The art of the comic book is to be celebrated in France with the opening of a new museum dedicated just to them. In France, the "bande dessinée" is revered as the "ninth art" and has a long and distinguished history, which will now be on show thanks to a range of temporary and permanent exhibits of original strips and sketches going back to the 19th century. The museum opens on 20th June in Angoulême, the site of a major annual comics festival.
