The bodies of 10 medical aid workers killed in Afghanistan's remote northeast last week were flown to Kabul on Sunday.

The workers - six Americans, one Briton, a German and two Afghans - worked for the International Assistance Mission (IAM), a Christian charity providing eye care and medical help.

Tom Little, a New York optometrist was one of the American victims. But for more than three decades, he had made his home in Afghanistan, working in the war-torn nation and raising three daughters while treating thousands of patients each year.
