Spanish acting royalty Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are expecting their first child, their publicist announced.

The famously private Cruz confirmed through her publicist what many had already suspected.

The actress is four and a half months pregnant at the time of the announcement on Tuesday (September 14).

The couple were married this summer in the Bahamas and are amongst a select group of Hollywood couples who have both won Oscars.

Bardem is currently promoting his new movie "Biutiful" and Cruz is filming the fourth installment of the "Pirates oft he Caribbean", alongisde Johnny Depp.
