BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- In Beijing, residents need to prepare their household registration and identity cards.

Beijing, a metropolis in northern China, had 13.8 million people of residence in the 2000 national population census. Ten years later, the number is expected to reach 20 million.

Ninety percent of households will be asked to provide their basic information including name and gender, while the other ten percent will be asked for more detailed information including about housing and employment.
