Tuesday, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi added fuel to that fire.
"As always, I work without interruption and if occasionally I happen to look a beautiful girl in the face, it's better to like beautiful girls than to be gay."
Speaking at a motorcycle industry show in Milan, Berlusconi denied doing anything improper and dismissed demands that he resign --- even as stories about a teenager named Ruby filled Italian newspapers with allegations.
The 74-year-old leader has weathered previous scandals over women -- but this latest dustup which includes charges he pressured authorities to release Ruby from police custody, may be more difficult for Italians to overlook.
