China is to test its new enginge for Long March 5 rocket Sunday. The test will take place in an open field 50 kilometers from Xi'an, capital of Shaan'xi province, in northwest China.
The engine has been upgraded. It's fueled with 30 tons of kerosene and 98 tons of liquid oxygen. That's a savings of almost 10 million yuan in propellant load. The engine is also recyclable. It can carry a load of 25 tons. That's 16 more than the Long March 2 F, which carried the Shenzhou-9 mission last month.
