LOS ANGELES, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is traveling to Texas Friday to begin five consecutive days of campaigning for Senator Hillary Clinton for Tuesday's Texas primary, his office said.

Villaraigosa, a rising star in California's Democratic Party and the first Latino mayor of Los Angeles in more than 100 years, is popular among Latino voters.

Villaraigosa endorsed Clinton in last May and is one of her national campaign co-chairmen. Since the start of the year, he has campaigned for Clinton in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and throughout California.
