SEOUL, March 11 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said on Tuesday that he is ready for shuttle diplomacy with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"We're ready for sincere talks with the North's (DPRK) leaders. I and working-level officials alike are ready for such talks. The inter-Korean dialogue should not be a one-time event. We should meet frequently," said Lee, who took office on Feb. 25.

Lee said that his government will pay more attention to the human rights issues of the DPRK.

Lee appealed that the two sides should change attitudes towards each other as a prerequisite to the resumption of inter-Korean dialogue.

"Both sides must be ready to open their minds to each other and engage in sincere dialogue," he said.
