RIYADH, March 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday, after winding up a surprise visit to Afghanistan Thursday, the pan-Arab Al-Jazeera television reported.
Cheney is scheduled to hold talks with Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz on cooperation to stabilize the oil market, where prices have reached record highs.
The two officials will talk about the way forward to try and stabilize the oil market, to reduce the volatility in the market, and serve the interests of both consumers and producers alike, according to an adviser to Cheney.
Cheney is on the latest stop of a 10-day trip to the region which has included Oman and surprise visits to war-torn Iraq and Afghanistan. He will later also visit Israel, the West Bank and Turkey.
