PYONGYANG, March 29 (Xinhua) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Saturday criticized a recently adopted UN human rights resolution, according to the official news agency KCNA.
At a session held on March 27, the UN Human Rights Council criticized the DPRK's "human rights situation" and adopted a "resolution" on extending the tenure of office of a special rapporteur for one year, the KCNA said.
The "resolution" was passed with the help of some "dishonest forces", with the EU and Japan being main players, pursuant to the U.S. moves against the DPRK, it added.
"The anti-DPRK 'resolution', the most vivid manifestation of the act of politicizing human rights, selectivity and double-standards, is to serve the political purpose of tarnishing the image of the dignified DPRK and eliminating its ideology and system," the KCNA quoted a DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying.
"It will result in scuttling the cooperation between the U.N. Human Rights Council and the DPRK and aggravating their mistrust and confrontation," said the spokesman.
