STOCKHOLM, July 2 (Xinhua) -- European Union Thursday called on all relevant parties and institutions in Honduras to refrain from violence and strive to find a swift and peaceful solution to the current situation.

The EU would support firmly the efforts made by the Organization of American States and its secretary-general for a peaceful solution aimed at restoring the constitutional order by reinstating President Jos Manuel Zelaya Rosales, the EU presidency Sweden said in a statement.

All sides in Honduras must respect rule of law, human rights and democracy, the statement said.

All EU ambassadors had been recalled for consultations in response to the gravity of the current situation and taking into account decisions taken by the Organization of American States, it added.

Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was ousted by the military on Sunday and forced into exile. Most nations and most multilateral organizations in the world have issued statements slamming the coup.
