Tsunami hits American Samoa after 8.3-magnitude quake

An earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 struck in the Samoan Islands region Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, prompting warnings for islands around the epicenter but sparing Hawaii and other outlying areas.
