Abu Sayyaf leader killed in Basilan, S Philipines

MANILA, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Philippine government troops killed an Abu Sayyaf leader involved in several kidnapping and bombing cases in Zamboanga City, southern Philipines.

Maj. Gen. Ben Dolorfino, chief of Western Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces, said Friday that the suspect, Abdullah Ajijul, alias Abu Termikie, was killed in Al-Barka town, Basilan province after he resisted arrest by Westmincom forces Wednesday night.

"He (Ajijul) was an Abu Sayyaf urban terrorist leader based in Zamboanga City. (He was) responsible for kidnapping and bombing incidents in the area," Dolorfino said.

He said Ajijul has a pending arrest warrants for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
