BANGKOK, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) meeting on Wednesday decided to appoint Korbsak Sabhavasu, secretary-general to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, to chair a committee for negotiating with the anti- government protestors, Thai News Agency reported.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva chaired the ISOC meeting to review security measures under the enforcement of the Internal Security Act (ISA), according to the report.
Thailand's top brasses, including Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul, Justice Minister Pirapan Saliratthavibhagha, army, navy and air force chiefs, and Pol Ben Adul Saengsingkaew, the Royal Thai Police Office representative, attended the ISOC meeting.
Suthep has been assigned to control security operations to be conducted by involved security agencies.
Meanwhile, Abhisit said he is still encouraged and has no plan to dissolve the House of Representatives.
Thailand's weekly cabinet on Tuesday decided to impose the Internal Security Act (ISA) from March 11 to March 23 to ensure law and order in a mass anti-government rally by the United front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) group.
The ISA imposition will take effect in the whole area of capital Bangkok and the neighboring Nonthaburi, acting government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said.
Also, the ISA law will be implemented in some 21 districts of six other provinces nearby Bangkok, including Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Pathom, and Ayutthaya.
