THE HAGUE, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- A 25-year-old Dutch woman is suspected of having killed her four babies and hiding the corpses in the attic of her parents' house, the police said Friday in a press release.
The woman, who lived with her parents in the town of Nij Beets, in the Netherlands' Friesland province, Thursday confessed that she had hid the babies' bodies in several suitcases in the attic of her parents' house.
Early this year a neighbor reported to the local police that no children were to be seen despite several pregnancies. The woman said that she had given her children up for adoption but failed to show documents to prove it.
It is known that the woman had given birth to four babies from 2002 through the begining of this year. But the causes of death, natural fathers and further details all remain unknown.
The woman's parents said that they had been unware of their daughter's pregnancies, and regional authorities had already considered the family to be a problematic one.
There are less than 1,700 residents in the small town, which was shocked by the event.
