TOKYO, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The latest Kyodo News survey revealed on Sunday that the support rate for Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan's Cabinet had climbed to 28.3 percent, up 8.4 percentage points from a survey conducted in February.

The nationwide telephone survey, which was carried out on Saturday and Sunday, also found that some 58.2 percent of the respondents express their disapproval of the government's handling of the nuclear crisis at the troubled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.

In addition, about 57.9 percent of the respondents said they agree with the government's actions on northeastern and eastern Japan. The coastal areas were hit by a catastrophic earthquake and ensuing tsunami on March 11.
