KABUL, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Eleven insurgent have been killed and 13 other suspects detained during military operations conducted by Afghan forces and NATO-led coalition troops within the past 24 hours, the country's Interior Ministry said on Sunday morning.
"Afghan police, army and NATO-led coalition forces launched 15 joint operations in 10 provinces across the country killing 11 armed insurgents and detaining 13 others," the ministry said in a statement.
They also found and seized weapons and ammunition, the statement added without saying if there were any casualties on the security forces.
Taliban militants have yet to make comments.
Afghan forces and some 130,000 NATO-led coalition troops have intensified cleanup operations throughout the post-Taliban country recently as spring and summer, known as "fighting season", are drawing near in the country.
