GENEVA, April 16 (Xinhua) -- UN-Arab League joint special envoy for Syria Kofi Annan will head for Doha, Qatar on Tuesday to participate in an Arab League meeting on Syria, his spokesman Ahmad Fawzi announced here on Monday evening.
Annan, accompanied by deputy envoy Nasser Al-Kidwa, will hold talks with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil El-Arabi and other senior officials during the Arab League Follow-up Ministerial Meeting on Syria, Fawzi said.
Earlier on Monday, Fawzi confirmed that the advance team of six UN observers has arrived in Damascus Sunday night and started setting up operating headquarters this morning, while reaching out to the Syrian government and the opposition forces.
