24 killed in road accident in western India

NEW DELHI, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-four people, including eight children, were killed and 15 others injured when the truck they were riding overturned Thursday in the western Indian state of Gujarat, said police.

The incident took place on the Sanand-Viramgam Highway of the state in early morning as the vehicle skidded off the road due to slippery road after a rainfall, police said.

Most of the victims were laborers transporting salt.
