Two dead in disco shooting in north France

PARIS, July 1 (Xinhua) -- A man shot dead on Sunday earlymorning two people and injured five others with one in serioussituation

at a nightclub in northern city of Lille, local mediareported.

Known by the police, the man opened fire with aKalashnikov-style weapon and killed a custormer and an employee ofthe locker room after being thrown out of the Theatro disco, newschannel BFMTV said.

The gunman had fled in a car after the shooting and a manhunthad been launched. it added citing police source.

Expressing her "dismay", the socialist leader and mayor ofLille, Martine Aubry asked "that every effort to be made to ensurethat the shooter will be arrested as soon as possible and broughtto justice."
