U.S. spokesperson calls Diaoyu Islands Senkakus

According to Sankei Shimbun Newspaper report, Victoria Nuland, the spokesperson for the United States Department of State, said at yesterday's press briefing that "we call them the Senkakus" when asked what the Daioyu Islands are called in the United States.

The question goes as follows: what is the official name for the Senkaku Islands for the United States? Is it Diaoyu Islands or Senkaku Islands, or both are okay?

“We don’t take a position on them, though, as I’ve said all the way through,” she added.
