The Japanese central government was reported to have reached an agreement to "purchase" three of the Diaoyu Islands from their "owner" for some 2.05 billion yen, sources said Wednesday.
However, the "owner" family and Tokyo governor denied that the Japanese central government had already reached a final agreement with the "owner".
”My brother has not changed his mind to sell the islands to the Tokyo metropolitan government, “said the "owner" brother.
"I can't be satisfied until I’m told by the owner in person of the deal," Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihar said.
"We are in the middle of discussions with the metropolitan government and the landowner. I have no intention to detail the issue at present since the process has yet to be finalized," Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary said.
