VIENNA, Sept.12 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese delegation to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Wednesday said China, together with the international community, would promote the resumption of six-party talks as early as possible.

The talks aim to play a constructive role in achieving the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and maintaining peace and stability in Northeast Asia.

The Chinese delegation noted the lack of mutual trust was the root cause of tension in Northeast Asia and one of reasons by the talks were faced with difficulties.

The latest IAEA report showed significant progress had been made in the construction of a light water reactor in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). DPRK said it is ready to return to six-party talks in July this year.
