Two U.S. fighter jets made an emergency landing Friday at Hakodate airport on the northernmost main island prefecture of Hokkaido, Kyodo reported, citing local authorities.

At around 11:15 a.m., the fighters based at the U.S. Misawa Air Base in Aomori Prefecture landed at the Japanese airport in Hakodate, Hokkaido, they said, adding no injury has been reported so far.

The Japanese Defense Ministry told the prefectural government that the landing was due to a defect found in one of the aircrafts, according to the local government.
