Angolan president swears in military, police chiefs

LUANDA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos on Wednesday swore in General Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda and Commander of the National Police Ambrosio de Lemos Freire dos Santos respectively.

On the separate occasions, the Angolan leader congratulated the chiefs for their performance in the previous terms for complying with the principles and values enshrined in the republic and constitution, the official news agency Angop said.

"I hope you continue to work with dedication to better serve the nation, thus contributing to the reinforcement and efficiency of organs of defense, internal order, intelligence and state security services," the president said.

At the Presidential Palace, Jose Eduardo dos Santos also swore in Antonio Egidio de Sousa e Santos as Deputy General Chief of staff of armed forces Patriotic Education and Jorge Barros as Deputy General Chief of Staff for Operation and Development.

Paulo de Almeida was sworn in as the deputy police commander.

The ceremonies were witnessed by Vice President Manuel Vicente.
