BEIJING, Dec. 04 (Xinhuanet) -- Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling's new novel, "The Casual Vacancy", will be adapted into a TV drama.
To be aired on the BBC the story is set in a small town's shock after the mystery death of villager Barry Fairbrother.
Rowling says that she is thrilled that the novel picked up and will collaborate closely on the screen adaptation.
The author goes on to say that she never thought that it should be made into a movie like her Harry Potter series and that the BBC is the perfect home.
"The Casual Vacancy" is Rowling's first novel for adults.
The Harry Potter seven book series has sold 450 million copies worldwide.
