The French ambassador to Mali Christian Rouyer said on Friday that the Malian army as well as the international community were not ready for a military intervention to liberate northern Mali regions.

While addressing the French policy on "Sahel: the Case of Mali", he said that there were still more issues to be sorted out before the adoption of a resolution by the UN Security Council to authorize the deployment of an international force to liberate the northern Mali which has been under the occupation of terrorists.

While noting that the attitude of those suggesting a speedy intervention was demagoguery, Rouyer indicated that it was necessary that the neighbouring countries come together first, and then they can count on the support of France and the European Union.

In the recent times, Mali's interim President Dioncounda Traore has been reiterating to his fellow Malian citizens that the liberation of the northern Mali was his priority and that the Malian nationals living under occupation will be freed soon.
