15 insurgents detained in E. Afghanistan: ISAF

Afghan forces and the NATO-led coalition troops have arrested 15 insurgents in operations in eastern provinces within the last 24 hours, said the coalition or International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) on Sunday.

Afghan police and coalition forces detained 14 insurgents during an engagement in Gardez District, Paktia province 100 km south of Kabul, the ISAF's Regional Command-East (RC-East) said in a press release.

One insurgent was captured in Pul-e-Alam District in Logar province 60 km south of Kabul.

The detained suspects were transferred to bases for questioning.

They also discovered a weapons cache in Zadran district of Paktia.

"Operations in RC-East are ongoing," it added.

The Taliban insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency of more than one decade, has yet to make comments. Enditem
