MANILA, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Moro Islamic Liberation Front ( MILF), the largest Muslim rebel group in the Philippines, has named four of its eight nominees for the Transition Commission (TC) that will draft the Bangsamoro Basic Law, a senior rebel official said Tuesday.
Muhammad Ameen, chairperson of the MILF Secretariat, said their four sure nominees include a woman, a member of the indigenous people, an alim (learned man in Islam) and a senior military leader of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF).
He did not disclose the names of the four nominees, adding that the organization will appoint the other four members of the TC.
Under the framework agreement on the Bangsamoro, the MILF will nominate eight of the 15 members of the TC, while seven will be named by the government.
Ameen said those MILF nominees were chosen based on loyalty and dedication to the Bangsamoro cause and capability to discharge the assigned task.
President Benigno S. Aquino III earlier issued an executive order of forming the TC that will draft the Bangsamoro Basic Law contained in the framework agreement, which was signed by the government and the MILF on Oct. 15.
