Trade ministers from major member states of the World Trade Organization (WTO) "gave a strong signal" that they want the upcoming 9th Ministerial Conferenceto deliver results, Swiss Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann said here on Saturday.

He told a press conference after hosting an informal meeting of trade ministers on sidelines of the Davos Forum that results could be expected from three aspects, including trade facilitation, some agricultural issues and some specific issues for developing countries.

"Ministers agreed that negotiations should move step by step and the first step will be the Ministerial Conference in December in Bali," he said.

WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy said it is technically feasible despite of the limited time, but members will have to reach an agreement around summer time.

Indonesian Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan said there was a growing sense of optimism in the last few days.

"Bali should be a place where failure could not and should not be an option," he said.
