BUDAPEST, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian President Janos Ader offered his New Year's greetings to the Chinese citizens of Hungary on Friday, published in the local Chinese language weekly, Budapest News.

Writing on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Ader noted that although many holidays and cultural customs were marked quite differently in China and Hungary, both peoples wanted the same thing: happiness, a chance to advance and a peaceful life with a faithful mate, and surrounded by a loving family.

Hungary also marks its New Year with joyful celebrations and in European tradition, people wish one another a Happy New Year much the same as the wish of hundreds of millions of Chinese families that "May all under Heaven celebrate together!"

"I would like to wish that the spring festival marking The Year of the Snake brings happiness to all of you who work, study, pursue the arts or are in business here in Hungary.." he wrote.

Underlining that Hungarians viewed the Chinese as their friends, he expressed joy that China and Hungary were on the enthusiastic road to friendship.

The Lunar New Year is not only the celebration of spring, but the holiday of hope and anticipation, he said, wishing that the hopes of us all and the friendships of individuals, peoples and nations be cemented.
