Indian troops have killed one Pakistani soldier who crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Indian-controlled Kashmir to attack an Indian post, the Indian Army said on Friday.
The Indian Army has also returned the body of the killed Pakistani soldier to the Pakistan Army Director General of Military Operations at the latter's request, Press Trust of India quoted unnamed army sources as saying.
Pakistan said one of its soldiers mistakenly crossed the LoC and entered the Indian side Thursday.
India earlier said its troops returned fire from the Pakistan side at LoC in Kashmir Thursday after they killed an "infiltrator. " It is not known whether the two incidents are related.
An Indian Army spokesman said in Jammu that Pakistani troops Thursday night fired at Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch sector of Indian-controlled Kashmir, but there was no casualty on the Indian side.
Relations between India and Pakistan became tense again after two Pakistani soldiers and two Indian soldiers were killed in skirmishes at LoC last month.
