Tests in the Czech Republic have confirmed the presence of undeclared horsemeat in meatballs designed for the Swedish furniture chain IKEA, spokesman for the State Veterinary Administration (SVS) said Monday.
Horsemeat was also found in Polish beef burger distributed by Bidvest Czech Republic, said Josef Duben.
Duben said Czech SVS has notified the findings to the EU's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
IKEA has withdrawn the meatballs from sale in a number of European countries after the finding of Czech inspectors.
The batch of meatballs had been on sale in several countries including the Czech Republic, Britain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium, according to IKEA's Czech spokesman Petr Chadraba.
According to information from the Irish authorities, some horsemeat declared as beef may have been imported to the Czech Republic from Ireland.
