JERUSALEM, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The Tel Aviv Magistrate ruled that a land sale in the West Bank was illegal, ordering settlers to return the territory to its original Palestinian owners, Israeli media reported Sunday.

The sale of the 0.1-square-km land in the West Bank of Alfei Menashe was fraudulent and illegal, the Ha'aretz daily quoted the ruling as saying.

The Civil Administration, the authority ruling civil matters in the West Bank territories, was given the responsibility over the land before returning it to Palestinians who fled to Jordan during the 1967 war, in which Israel occupied parts of the West Bank.

This ruling may have influence on other cases of abandoned Palestinian land on which there are active settlements.
