JERUSALEM, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian was lightly wounded by gunfire during a clash with Israeli troops in the West Bank city of Hebron on Thursday.
A military spokeswoman in Tel Aviv said that the man, who is wanted for questioning by security forces, violently resisted his arrest by hurling objects, including axes and hammers, at the soldiers, lightly injuring two of them.
"One of the troops fired towards the suspect when the latter attempted to grab his weapon," the spokeswoman told Xinhua, adding that the soldiers treated the man at the site, then sent him to an Israeli hospital.
The Palestinian man's name, or any further details of his arrest, were not disclosed.
In recent months, a number of similar arrest operations in the West Bank have sparked confrontation between Palestinians and Israeli security forces.
