ALGIERS, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Algeria is due to send 30 tons of food and drugs to Syrian refugees in Jordan, local APS news agency reported Friday.

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika decided to send these humanitarian aids to mark solidarity with Syrian refugees during this fasting month of Ramadan, the reported quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Amar Belani as saying.

The official said the humanitarian aids include essential food commodities and medicines, which will be transported via two flights of Air Algerie on Friday and Saturday from the international airport of Algiers to the airport of Amman.

Jordan houses some 115,000 Syrians in refugee camps sprawling along the border with Syria, according to Jordanian authorities.
