2 Moroccan soldiers missing in navy drill accident

RABAT, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Two Moroccan navy commando trainees were reported missing after being swept away by strong currents during a sea drill, official news agency MAP reported on Friday.

The accident occurred on Wednesday off the Mediterranean coast of Ksar Sghir, when very strong sea currents swept away a group of commando trainees from the Moroccan Royal Navy, the report said.

Some of them managed to reach Moroccan coasts with the assistance of the coastguards and Royal Navy units, and two managed to swim to the Spanish coast, the report added.

The report added that two other soldiers are still missing and search operations are underway. Enditem
