GABORONE, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi went into self-quarantine Tuesday following the detection of a COVID-19 case among some of his staff members.

Batlhalefi Leagajang, press secretary to the Botswanan president, said in a statement on Tuesday that "the president's self-quarantine is out of abundance of caution while more information is being gathered to ascertain the level of risk which will guide additional precautions and investigations in relation to this exposure."

The president will not be joining other Southern African Development Community (SADC) leaders for the Organ on Politics, Defense and Security Extra Ordinary Summit to be held on April 29 in Maputo, Mozambique. Masisi will be represented by his vice, Slumber Tsogwane, at the summit. Enditem
