Libyan volunteers prepare hundreds of charity meals during Ramadan

TRIPOLI, May 8 (Xinhua) -- A group of Libyan residents of Tajura district of eastern Tripoli have been preparing meals for charity that serves those who fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

"This work started from the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and will continue until the end of the month," Salem Omran, a volunteer, told Xinhua.

"Since the beginning of Ramadan, about 9,000 meals have been prepared," he said, adding "Everyone passing by this location is simply welcomed to get a meal."

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims as the holy month of daily fasting, praying, and charity. Enditem
