DAR ES SALAAM, June 9 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank said Wednesday it would consider increasing financing on poverty reduction in Tanzania.

The financing will be increased through the Tanzania Productive Social Safety Net (PSSN) project which falls under state-run Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) that enables poor households to increase incomes and opportunities.

"TASAF has proved to be one of the best ways of reducing poverty," said Taufila Nyamadzabo, the executive director of the World Bank's Africa Group 1 Constituency, on a visit to a poverty eradication project in Dodoma, the Tanzanian capital.

Nyamadzabo said the World Bank remains committed to continuing supporting TASAF, adding that the bank was thinking of increasing funding for the program that is changing the lives of many people in the east African nation.

Ladislaus Mwamanga, TASAF executive director, said since TASAF was launched in 2005 in Tanzania, about 18 million people have benefitted from the poverty eradication programs. Enditem
