TRIPOLI, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah stressed on Monday the importance of supporting the private energy sector in the country.

During a workshop in the industry and services of energy, Dbeibah emphasized the need to support the private sector in this field, and provide it with the opportunity to positively participate with the public sector, said a statement issued by the government's information office.

The prime minister also highlighted the need to consider renewable energy projects, which require joint efforts of both private and public sectors to benefit from international experiences and scientific researches, it said.

"Libyan Ministry of Oil and Gas must work to raise oil productivity in the coming years as alternative energies will replace the oil, and it will have no value after that," Dbeibah was quoted as saying.

He also announced that two projects will be launched later this year in partnership with Total and Eni in the field of solar energy in Libya.

Since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, Libya has been suffering frequent cuts of power, particularly in summer, due to lack of proper maintenance of power plants and suspension of power plants projects in the country. Enditem
