BOGOTA, March 26 (Xinhua) -- A car bomb blast in Corinto, a town in Colombia's southwest department of Cauca, injured at least 16 people on Friday, local authorities said.
The explosion occurred near City Hall and the town's Police Station, where 11 officers were injured, three of them seriously.
Members of the army and police were dispatched to the site, while Minister of Defense Diego Molano announced via Twitter that he was going to hold a security council in the area.
"On the way to Popayan for the security council due to events that occurred in Corinto, Cauca. No truce against crime, narco-criminals will not be allowed to sow terror among the population," Molano said.
He added he instructed Colombia's police and military "not to rest until those responsible were found."
Firefighters battled the blaze from the blast, which also damaged several homes and businesses.
In Cauca early Friday, there were reports that a member of the Technical Investigation Corps, Mario Fernando Herrera, had been kidnapped.
In addition, this region of Colombia have seen several clashes between the army and dissidents of the disbanded Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia guerrilla group in recent hours. Enditem
