MAIDAN SHAR, Afghanistan, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- One student lost his life and nine others sustained injury in a mine blast in east Afghanistan's Wardak province on Monday, a local official said Tuesday.

The blast occurred in the compound of a private university in Maidan Shar, capital of the province, head of the provincial council Sharifullah Hotak said.

"A mine planted by unknown elements in the compound of the private Danish University went off at 04:00 p.m. local time Monday, killing one student on the spot and injuring nine others," Hotak told Xinhua.

The killed student, according to the official, was a former commander of Mujahidin who was studying at the educational center to obtain degree.

This is the third attack on educational centers over the past one month.

Militants earlier attacked a private educational center and the state-run Kabul University in Kabul, killing scores of students. Enditem
