ULAN BATOR, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia recorded around 23,100 cases of crime in 2020, down 26.8 percent from the previous year, data released by the country's National Statistics Office showed on Monday.

The significant decrease is partially related to restrictive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, according to experts of the statistical agency.

More than half of the total crimes were reported in the capital Ulan Bator, home to around half of the country's population of 3.3 million.

Last year, a total of 8,175 people were injured and 670 deaths were recorded in the country due to crimes. Enditem
