CPVCC meeting to discuss personnel work ahead of 13th CPV National Congress

HANOI, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The 12th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) on Saturday opened its 15th plenary session here ahead of the 13th CPV National Congress, focusing on the party's personnel work for the CPVCC's next term, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The session, chaired by General Secretary of the CPVCC and Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong, will discuss personnel work on candidates for the 13th CPVCC, its politburo and secretariat, as well as key leadership positions in the next term, according to the news agency.

A report on personnel work related to the CPVCC's 13th term and a report on documents to be submitted to the 13th CPV National Congress, which will take place between Jan. 25 and Feb. 2, are also scheduled to be approved at the session.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the plenary session is "of special significance" in that it will discuss and decide on the remaining preparatory work for the 13th CPV National Congress, which is expected to elect the party chief for the next term.

The plenary session is scheduled to conclude next Monday. Enditem
