3,418 people isolated in Laos amid COVID-19 concerns

VIENTIANE, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Laos' National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Tuesday said it has been monitoring 3,418 people across the country over COVID-19 concerns.

Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control under the Lao Ministry of Health Latsamy Vongkhamsao, told a press conference in Lao capital Vientiane on Tuesday that some 2,022 people entered Laos through international border checkpoints on Monday.

The temperature of each person was checked before sending to quarantine centers for 14 days.

Latsamy said that a total of 3,418 people had been quarantined at 34 accommodation centers across the country.

The Lao government continues to strictly monitor people entering Laos to prevent a second wave of COVID-19.

The government has advised people and relevant authorities not to neglect containment and preventive measures.

As of Tuesday, Laos has tested 127,582 suspected cases with 49 cases tested positive, and 45 patients have recovered.

Laos announced its first two COVID-19 confirmed cases on March 24 last year. Enditem
