JAKARTA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian authorities have retrieved the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) of crashed Sriwijaya Air passenger plane nearly three months after the aircraft slammed into the Java Sea.

At a press conference in Tanjung Priok Port in northern Jakarta on Wednesday, the country's Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that the CVR was found by divers on Tuesday at 8 p.m. local time at the location not far from where the flight data recorder (FDR) was retrieved.

The FDR was found three days after the jet crashed into the sea.

The minister said that the CVR will be given to the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) which investigates the Sriwijaya Air crash.

The Boeing 737-500 passenger aircraft with 62 people aboard crashed into the Java Sea on Jan. 9, shortly after taking off from Jakarta to Indonesian city of Pontianak in West Kalimantan province. Enditem
