WELLINGTON, April 9 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand reported six cases of COVID-19 in managed isolation and no new community cases on Friday.
Five of the six newly imported cases came from India and one was from the Philippines. They have remained in managed isolation and quarantine facilities in Auckland, according to the Ministry of Health.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases detected at the border is eight, said a ministry statement.
Six previously reported cases have now recovered. The total number of active cases in New Zealand is 95, and the total number of confirmed cases is 2,205, it said.
New Zealand on Thursday announced a temporary ban on arrivals from India to curb the rapid growth of COVID-19 cases in managed quarantine facilities.
On April 11-28, flights from India to New Zealand will be suspended in order to slow the growth of the number of arriving passengers from India testing positive for COVID-19.
The decision came as New Zealand reported 23 newly imported COVID-19 cases in managed isolation facilities on Thursday. Among them, 17 cases came from India. Enditem
