Myanmar reports 10 new COVID-19 infections

YANGON, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar reported 10 new COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the Health and Sports Ministry on Thursday.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 142,800, while its death toll was recorded at 3,209, the statement said.

Three more recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals, bringing the number of recoveries to 131,958 as of Thursday.

A total of 1,781 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday, down from around 10,000 tested daily in early February.

Meanwhile, Myanmar authorities on Thursday extended all COVID-19 preventive measures announced by the respective union level governments and ministries, which will expire on Friday, to the end of May.
