ISLAMABAD, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Abdul Razak Dawood, Advisor to Pakistani Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment, said on Friday that Pakistan intends to develop the Gwadar port as a regional trade and transit hub which helps countries in the region including landlocked Afghanistan and Central Asian republics reach the outside world.

A statement by the Pakistani Ministry of Commerce said Dawood made the remarks in his meeting with visiting Hungarian Minister of Foreign affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.

Dawood noted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the flagship infrastructure project in Pakistan that aims to promote regional connectivity through the Gwadar port, which is located in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province.

According to the statement, he told the visiting Hungarian minister that investment incentives in nine special economic zones (SEZs) will be developed under the framework of CPEC and open to all trading partners for investment, and that Pakistan would welcome joint ventures including with Hungarian businesses.

Dawood also highlighted the friendly investment regime and the incentives the Pakistani government provides for foreign investors in the SEZs.

The Hungarian side expressed interest in cooperation in sectors including railways, cybersecurity, agro and food processing, dairy and livestock and fisheries, according to the commerce ministry statement. Enditem
